4) Can you force my old employer to re-hire me?

No, unfortunately, we, as lawyers working in wrongful dismissal law, have no power in forcing your former employer to rehire you. The best we can do is to force your former employer to compensate you for your loss. Having said that, even with the most generous severance package, there is always an end date, which means that you will at the end of your severance period have to either retire or find alternate employment (Employment Insurance is itself time-limited and not very generous).
