1) What is a bail hearing?

Once someone has been arrested, sometimes they may be held in custody until a court decides whether they should be released into the community this is a bail hearing. The court will consider a number of factors including whether they pose a risk to the community if theyre released and whether they will come to court as directed until their matter is resolved.

A person can only have one bail hearing, so they must think carefully about how they want to proceed. It is important to obtain legal advice before making any decisions.
